Working as a School Counselor

What do school counselors do?

School counselors work with students in elementary, middle, and high school settings.  School counseling often follows a developmental model, providing goals that are integrated into student's lives.  School counselors not only help to develop social skills, but also help students to develop career awareness.  School counselors often consult with teachers, parents, social workers, psychiatrists, etc. to coordinate services for students.

School counselors are trained to work in elementary, middle, and high schools.
