M.A. in Family Counseling

The Department of Counselor Education offers a 60 hour program (20 courses) leading to the Master of Arts in Family Counseling.  The Family Counseling program prepares students for employment in settings such as mental health agencies, community counseling agencies, chemical dependency programs, hospitals, marriage and family counseling clinics, crisis centers, and court services.

Selection into program

The faculty will assess applicants using the following criteria:

  • Aptitude for graduate level study

  • Potential for success in forming effective interpersonal relationships in individual and small groups (individuals with disabilities, their families, and significant others)

  • Openness to self-examination and potential for personal and professional development
