Staff Psychologist Position in the Counseling Office

The Counseling Office of Northeastern Illinois University invites applications for the position of Staff Psychologist. This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Director of Counseling, available July 1, 2008.

Northeastern Illinois University is a comprehensive state university of approximately 12,000 students located on a 67-acre campus in a residential neighborhood on the northwest side of Chicago. The Counseling Office provides psychological services and outreach to students, consultation and support to the university's faculty and administrative staff, and supervision to clinicians in training. The student client population represents a highly diverse mix of cultural backgrounds, ages and clinical presentations. The office's clinical staff is comprised of three psychologists, a postdoctoral fellow, and several predoctoral level trainees; other professional staff provide career counseling and additional student support services.

Requirements:
A doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology is required. Candidates should be licensed or license-eligible as a Clinical Psychologist in Illinois. A minimum of 2 yrs of previous experience providing psychological services and clinical supervision in a college counseling center is required.

Demonstrated knowledge or experience working with Hispanic/Latino students or multicultural and diversity issues is preferred, as is demonstrated knowledge or experience with low-income and first-generation students in an urban setting; bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include the direct provision of individual, group and couple therapy to students, along with consultation to university administration and faculty, outreach to students, participation in the selection and supervision of postdoctoral fellows and predoctoral trainees, and participation on university committees and advisory boards.
