Computer Science Department

ADMISSION TO THE MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

A student must have at least a 2.75 overall GPA from their undergraduate institution and any post-bachelor's courses they have taken.  The student should also have at least a 3.0 average in courses that relate to computer science or mathematics.

No previous coursework in computer science is necessary to enter the program.  However, the student must have knowledge of discrete structures and programming in order to take the courses which count towards the degree.  If the student does not have this background they must take CS-405 Applied Discrete Structures and CS-406 Object Oriented Development before beginning course work towards the degree.

If a student's GPA is close to the 2.75 or less than 3.0 in CS courses, they may be admitted conditionally to the program.  If this happens, the student must maintain a 3.0 average in their first 12 hours of course work or they will be dropped from the program.
