Welcome to the Department of
Communication, Media and Theatre
Northeastern Illinois University
The Department of Communication, Media and Theatre (CMT) links three creative and demanding disciplines, all of which take as their focus social interaction, technology, and performance. The department offers courses on public address, group dynamics, intercultural communication, relationships, critical thinking, political activism, audio and visual production, media literacy, journalism, film studies, performance, theatre literature, production, and theatre education.
CMT students acquire proficiency in the theory and practice of communication, media and theatre as well as develop an appreciation of differing values and perceptions of the world in which they live. They also acquire hands-on media training in a state-of-the-art media laboratory and first-hand theatre experience in the Stage Center Theatre.
