Accounting is the language of business, and employees of small and large organizations must understand basic accounting principles. Knowledge of debits and credits, financial statements, and accounting information systems is basic for all business activities. Accounting majors must, of course, be well grounded in general business as well as in accounting theory and practice.

Prerequisites for all business major and minor programs include completing eight Foundation courses with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and a grade of "C' or better in each course, and a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average for all course work at NEIU.

Please note that, including Foundation Courses, completion of the sequence of courses leading to a baccalaureate degree requires at least 6 semesters.
