Texts
Billstein, Libeskind, Lott, Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers, fifth ed. Addison Wesley
D.Farmer, Groups and Symmetry, Mathematical World Vol. 5, American Mathematical Society, 1996
Objective of Course
To gain an overview and experience with the variety of geometrical experiences that you would be likely to encounter in the elementary schools and to obtain some depth in some areas (transformations and tesselations) of geometry.
Evaluation
You will be evaluated on daily work (50%), and homework (50%). Daily work may involve pretests, quizzes, homework or group work. Daily work will not be announced in advance and work not turned in when due will absolutely not be counted. The lowest two daily work grades will be thrown out as will the lowest 2 homework grades. There will be an optional final December 11 for those who miss a substantial amount of the daily work or homework. See my web page Daily work policies and grading for more details.

See the University Catalog for rules on "R" and "I" grades. Students should retain all papers handed back until at least the end of the semester.
