Text and materials
Text: McCallum,Hughes-Hallett, Gleason et al. Multivariable Calculus , J. Wiley, 1996. A TI-85 or TI-82 calculator is recommended.

We will work with the computer package MAPLE in the smart classroom. Note that class will meet in S242 on Mondays. We will restrict our required MAPLE usage to then but you may wish to become more proficient in MAPLE. MAPLE is available in the computer labs and some documentation is available on my web site. The student version of MAPLE is available from the campus bookstore in both PC and Mac format for about $90.

Objective of Course
To extend our knowledge of calculus to functions of two or three variables and vector valued functions. We will learn to solve multivariable optimization problems. And we will learn about line integrals and Green's Theorem. We will cover chapters 11 through 18 and chapters 19 and 20 if time permits.

Evaluation
You will be evaluated on daily work (55\%), and 3 tests (15\% each) tenatively scheduled for Fridays June 21 and July 19 and Wednesday August 7 from 2PM to 3PM. Daily work may involve pretests, quizzes, homework or group work. Daily work will not be announced in advance and if you are not present you can not get credit. The lowest two daily work grades will be thrown out. Students who miss an excessive amount of daily work may make up no more than 80% of that by taking an optional cumulative fi nal on Wednesday August 7 after the scheduled test.

I generally do not give ``D'' grades, see the University Catalog for rules on ``R'' and ``I'' grades.

No class Monday, May 27. There will be no graded work July 5.
