NEIU ART GALLERY PRESENTS

Rhonda Wheatley and Isaac Duncan III
January 29th - March 2nd, 2007

Artist Rhonda Wheatley explores the subtle shift between our conscious and subconscious. Referencing Eastern scriptures in Sanskrit, atomic symbols, and Western text, Wheatley attempts to make visual the substance of our thoughts. Her collaged paintings refer to the internal self, a realm both complex and elusive. In contrast, Isaac Duncan III creates anthropomorphic sculptures using carefully ordered geometric forms. Duncan's harmoniously balanced sculptures in metal allude to the easily accessible and visually appealing external world--that which is outside of ourselves. Both artists' work is rooted in universal concepts: thought, form, and self-awareness.

Rhonda Wheatley will be discussing her work on Tuesday January 30th from 1:30-3:00pm. A reception will be held for both artists on Friday February 9th from 6-9pm. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
