The End of Revolution? Iran, Nicaragua, and Beyond

On the conference’s fourth and final day we will explore the future(s) of revolution by re-examining two events that shook the world 30 years ago: the 1979 Iranian and Nicaraguan revolutions. What lessons have we learned — or failed to learn — from what were arguably the last of the “classical” revolutions of our time, and what might their legacies portend for the 21st century? Do we now live in a post-revolutionary world? Must we re-think the meaning of revolution for our age and beyond?
