South Deering Parks Introduction
There are two parks in South Deering;
Veterans Memorial Park and Trumbull Park. Trumbull Park was the older and
larger park of the two. This park was for many years and continues to be
the center of activity to the residents of South Deering. It often held
pageants and fairs in which the park would attract observers and neighbors
and became a gathering place of sorts for the residents. The park became
so popular that on one July 4th, it attracted as many as 42,000 people.
Trumbull Park was not just a park to its visitors, it was a treasure. Veterans
Memorial Park, although smaller, is just as important to the residents
who live nearby. It has a very active community organization named
the Veteran's Park Improvement Association which seeks to maintain the
quality of life in the community.
