East Side Commerce

      The East Side business district originally developed near the East Side train station at 100th Street and Ewing Avenue.  The business district was located between 99th and 101st Street around Ewing Avenue.  As the community expanded southward, the main shopping district moved and was later centered around the intersection of 106th and Ewing Avenue.  As with all the Southeast Side commuities there were numerous "Mom and Pop" stores located throughout the neighborhood.
