Industrial and Labor History of the Southeast Side
The Southeast Side of Chicago was filled with many
steel mills
and other industrial concerns. The mills provided the residents
of
the area with stable blue collar jobs and a good standard of
living.
The jobs available in the area attracted many people of many ethnic
types
and created a number of ethnic neighborhoods. The mills of the
Southeast
Side affected not only the immediate area but also the rest of the
world.
