this publication and reflects the sharp contrasts that exist
in this part of the city of Chicago. Nature and industry have been
linked in a monumental struggle to control the region.
The key question that must be answered is what type of development
will take shape in the future? Will we return to the days
of environmental abuse? Will development with its jobs and economic
benefits stop because of environmental concerns? Or will
environmentally friendly economic development take place which balances
the concerns of developers with those of
environmentalists?
