“Be the change that you want to see in the world.” -- Mahatma Gandhi
The Asian and Global Student Resources (AGSR) at Northeastern Illinois University honors the diverse talents and cultures represented in our student body, faculty and staff. Many students face a variety of challenges adjusting to university life. The AGSR aspires to help students adjust to the university, to instill a sense of belonging through engagement in the center’s programs and activities, so students feel more connected to the university. The AGSR is a student-centered shared space where the cultures and heritages represented on our campus and in our nation, are valued, honored and celebrated. The center is committed to listening to the many voices on our campus and focuses programming around issues that are important to students and the university community.
Annual Asian-American Heritage Conference and Awards Celebration
This conference gives the University Community an opportunity to increase awareness and further our community's understanding and appreciation of the influence and rich traditions of Asian and Asian American culture. Also, a committee of students, faculty and staff produce the annual Asian American Awards Celebration, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of its community members who personify the shared values of Integrity, Excellence, Access, Diversity, Community and Empowerment, and have made significant contributions to the University or to the Asian American community at large.
