Engaged teaching, openness to new learning, innovation, and scholarship are essential qualities of an excellent institution. To achieve and sustain excellence requires dedication, colleagueship, and assessment. Assessment enables us to develop reliable evidence to answer questions such as: How are we doing? How do we know? How can we do better? Taking a more comprehensive look, program review enables us to answer questions such as: How are we doing in relation to other institutions? Is our curriculum current? Do we have the staffing and financial support to maintain and grow our programs? In both cases, it is important to develop reliable evidence that informs decision-makers at the course, program, department, college and university levels. In our efforts we are guided by the University’s mission, values and strategic goals.
The Office of Assessment and Program Review provides needed information and expertise in its work with the campus community. We help programs and units develop sustainable policies and practices that engage program faculty, students, and staff in assessing outcomes and further develop their capacity for greatness as they serve our students, communities and the world at large.
