The Northeastern Illinois University Foundation will host its oldest philanthropic event, the Chuck Kane Scholarship Golf Event, on Monday, August 18 at Traditions at Chevy Chase Golf Club, 1000 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wheeling, Illinois.

For the 42nd year, the golf event will raise funds to support the Chuck Kane Scholarship Fund for Northeastern Illinois University students. The event is held annually in memory of former NEIU athletic director and golf coach, Professor Charles “Chuck” Kane, remembered as a warm and wonderful man who took great pride in his teaching.

Many of Northeastern’s notable alumni are scheduled to attend, including Danny Crawford, NBA Referee; Alan Hargesheimer, former MLB pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals; and Brian James, Northwestern University assistant basketball coach and former Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach. The Chuck Kane scholarships have supported more than 125 students since 1973, and these students have gone on to become some of the top athletic directors, teachers and professionals in Chicago and beyond.

The daylong event will include 18 holes of golf, lunch on the course, hole-in-one and other contests, cocktail hour after play, and a silent auction and dinner program featuring Northeastern alumni who benefitted from Chuck Kane Scholarships and now are successful in their careers. Guests may attend the all-day festivities for $200 per person, golf and lunch for $135, or cocktails and dinner for $75.
