Educacion a Su Alcance Partnership with Telemundo
In late July, Telemundo came to Chicago from Washington, D.C., to tape interviews with 34 members of the NEIU community. Telemundo will use these interviews for the main content as they produce two programs that will exclusively feature NEIU in the station's series "Educacion a Su Alcance," or "Education Within Your Reach."
The "Educacion a Su Alcance" series consists of community-focused, monthly, half-hour shows that provide Latino families with a more in-depth view of the educational landscape in the United States. This program clarifies the processes that families and children need to know in order to obtain the education and career they desire. The show's purpose is to trigger conversations between parents and children, teachers and students, thus activating an on-going community-wide effort to make obtaining a strong education accessible and realistic.
The programs featuring NEIU will cover the topics "A Day in the Life of a Professional" and "Multiculturalism in the Workforce." The public relations, governmental relations and alumni relations offices coordinated 34 interviews at multiple NEIU campus locations, around Chicago, and in Washington, D.C., with distinguished and young alumni, faculty, staff, students, and NEIU Board of Trustees chair Carlos Azcoitia. "A Day in the Life of a Professional" will be broadcast on Telemundo at 9 a.m. on September 24 and rerun at 9 a.m. on October 1. "Multiculturalism and the Workforce" will be broadcast at 9 a.m. on November 26 with a rerun at 9 a.m. on December 3. The two programs will air in both Chicago and Washington, D.C.
