Christina Bueno, associate professor, history, was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities research grant for 2011-2012. With the grant Bueno will complete a book manuscript titled "The Allure of Antiquity: Archaeology and the Making of Modern Mexico."
Marian Gidea, professor, mathematics, has been invited to join the membership of the Institute of Advanced Study (IAS) in Princeton, N.J., for the academic year 2011-2012. As a member of the IAS, Gidea will participate in symplectic dynamics organized by the IAS School of Mathematics and will pursue research in dynamical systems with applications to celestial mechanics, space mission design and hydrodynamics.
Philip Wagala Gwanyama, professor, mathematics, has published a book titled "Fundamental Computations for Magic Squares."
