Announcement of Sister Rosemary Connelly Scholarship

The Rotary Club of Chicago Far North announces a one year $1,000 scholarship, to be awarded for the 2011-2012 academic year. The scholarship honors the dedication and achievements of Sister Rosemary Connelly of Misericordia Home, Chicago, Illinois.

The scholarship recipient will reside within the North or Northwest side of the city of Chicago. This person will be majoring in Special Education, in honor of Sister Rosemary's life work. The recipient will have already completed an undergraduate degree, and will be enrolled into and be pursuing a master's degree in Special Education.

All applications should include responses to these questions:

  • Why do you want to work in the field of Special Education? (200 words)
  • How do you plan to contribute to the life of the larger community? (200 words)
  • When state-wide funding for education is being cut, why should the needs of people with handicapping conditions be given priority? (200 words)

Each application should be accompanied by a transcript of their undergraduate grades and two letters of recommendation.

Applications should be submitted to the Scholarship Committee by May 10, 2011.
