The Graduate College

One of the most diverse universities in the Midwest

Northeastern welcomes and supports a diverse student body. We have programs specific to returning adult and transfer students, women students, and veterans. NEIU is also the only public four-year university in the Midwest federally designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution. In addition, we actively promote a welcoming campus for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students. The University’s cultural diversity is further supported through the Angelina Pedroso Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs.

Angelina Pedroso Center for Diversity & Intercultural Affairs

The University’s new Angelina Pedroso Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs is a unique place on campus that celebrates the rich diversity of the University in meaningful ways. Each year, the Center coordinates a series of conferences celebrating the rich traditions of the many cultures in our global community.

Students and community members participate in the panels and presentations at these conferences where keynote speakers from around the world examine local and global issues. The Pedroso Center celebrates all cultural diversity and is open to students of all ethnicities.
