About
The overall mission of the M.S. in Exercise Science program is to promote fitness and optimal health through teaching, research, and service. The program provides students with the knowledge and skills for advanced study or careers in exercise and health-related fields. Our graduates understand and can explain the integrative roles of anatomy, biomechanics, biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, metabolic biochemistry, motor learning, and biopsychology of behavior, that underlie effective lifestyle programming for improved health, fitness, and performance.
Is this for me?
This program is for you if you are a professional who is currently active in the health, wellness, and fitness-related professions and wish to gain greater scientific insight into health, fitness, and performance-related issues of concern to your students, athletes, patients, or clients.
Prospects
The professional exercise scientist educates clients, patients, athletes, and others on how to employ physical activity and exercise programs to improve health, well being, and/or performance in sports and exercise. Exercise science graduates with the M.S. Degree have opportunities for employment in cardiac rehabilitation, adult fitness, geriatric settings, corporate fitness, military fitness, research, sales, and weight control programs. Some Exercise Science M.S. graduates choose to continue their formal education and pursue a Ph.D. degree.
