Army ROTC

Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) is offered through Northeastern Illinois University in conjunction with the Loyola University of Chicago Army ROTC Battalion. The Army ROTC program prepares students for service as officers in the United States Army. Successful completion of the program results in a commission as a second lieutenant in the Regular Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve.

During the first two years, basic courses are offered to all students, providing them a chance to see what the program entails. Students enrolled in the Advanced Program during their junior and senior years are paid $100 per month. Qualified Northeastern students can apply for an Illinois State Scholarship (ROTC tuition waiver). Basic-course-level ROTC students who receive one of these scholarships incur absolutely no military obligation.

Army ROTC courses are taught by the ROTC Battalion at Loyola University of Chicago. Students interested in ROTC should contact the Loyola University, Army ROTC Battalion at (773) 508-2852. Once accepted into the ROTC Battalion, students need to meet with the Veterans Services Office to coordinate scholarship benefits and course registration.

Air Force ROTC

Students may enroll in the Air Force ROTC program at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). The two- and four-year programs allow qualified men and women the opportunity to earn commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation and completion of the Air Force ROTC. State of Illinois ROTC scholarships (ROTC tuition waiver) are available to qualified students. Federal scholarships are available to students who qualified and are enrolled in either program and include textbook and monthly subsistence amounts, paid to the students.

The Air Force ROTC courses are taught on the IIT campus. For more information on Air Force ROTC, call (312) 267-3535 or (312) 267-3526, or stop by 10 W. 21st Street (IIT Stuart Building) in Chicago. Once students are accepted into the AF ROTC, they need to meet with the Veterans Services Office to coordinate scholarship benefits.
