Northeastern to host Art in Response to Violence Conference

Northeastern Illinois University will host the 5th International Art in Response to Violence Conference on Oct. 23-24. The two-day conference encourages understanding of the role art plays as a facilitator of transformation and how art and art-making are processes of awakening, educating and healing. The conference will take place in the Student Union on Northeastern’s main campus, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago. Among the presenters are:

Northeastern Illinois University has been named a top-100 university for graduating students of diverse ethnic backgrounds. The national rankings, published in Diverse - Issues in Higher Education's annual “Top Degree Producers,” demonstrate that Northeastern is a leader among American universities for the number of bachelor’s and master’s degrees earned by students of diverse ethnic backgrounds.

Northeastern to celebrate Ronald Williams Day

Northeastern Illinois University’s Ronald Williams Library will commemorate Ronald Williams Day on Oct. 10 in recognition of one of the University’s most beloved and visionary presidents. To commemorate the day, the Library Foundation has purchased a book in memory of Williams titled “Death of a Suburban Dream: Race and Schools in Compton, California” by Emily E. Straus.  The public is invited to view the book, along with other documents and photos of Williams, in the lobby though Oct. 20.
