Edward F. Stuart Legacy Fund
Dr. Ed Stuart, Professor Emeritus, is committed to teaching and learning through travel. His seventeen travel-study tours at NEIU have had an immeasurable impact on our students, our program and our university. Through providing scholarships to students who travel, this fund will ensure that these ideals live on.
Dr. Stuart and his family have teamed with the Economics Department to establish this fund with a $5,000 matching grant. We are supporting the generosity of Dr. Stuart and his family with a fundraising campaign to promote travel for as many students as we possibly can.
Here’s how you can help:
Make a donation
- To make your gift online go to your.neiu.edu/give. Choose your gift amount, then click the Designation dropdown menu and type Ed Stuart Legacy Fund under “Other. “
- To make your gift by mail make your check out to the Northeastern Illinois University Foundation, write Ed Stuart Legacy Fund in the memo of the check and send to:
Northeastern Illinois University Foundation
5500 North St. Louis Avenue
Chicago, Il 60625
- To make your gift by credit card over the phone, or for questions, call Jan Gunn at (773) 442-4210 and be sure to let her know the gift is for the Ed Stuart Legacy Fund.
Watch your donation grow
Right away, the first $5,000 in donations will be matched by Dr. Stuart.
In addition, Professor Wenz will contribute $25 to the Economics Department Foundation for each of the first 20 contributions of $25 or more, and the Economics Department faculty will contribute $100 for each of the first five contributions of $100 or more.
Finally, all of these donations (and the matches!) will be matched by a donation to the Daniel L. Goodwin College of Education Fund.
That means your $25 contribution will generate $150 for NEIU. Your $100 will turn into $600.
Also, see if your employer will match your donation. If so, your $25 can turn into $300 in contributions to Northeastern!
Spread the Word
Every gift of every size matters, but if you can’t give at this time, you can help us get the word out to past generations of NEIU Econ students through social media. We’ll make announcements on Facebook and LinkedIn, please “Like” them and “Share” them so your friends, fellow students and alums can see them. We’re starting with you and we need your help through both contributions and networking.
Keep in touch
We’ll follow up on this message in the coming weeks, partly because we want the fund to be a success, but also because we’d like to hear from you about how we can help keep you connected to the department and to future generations of student travelers. If you're a veteran of one of the tours, please send us your testimonials.
About the Fund
This Fund will be used to support student travel, both in study abroad programs and academic endeavors closer to home. We will begin a scholarship program with the 2017-18 academic year and will announce application and eligibility requirements soon.
Dr. Stuart has been an exceptional educator and travel guide for decades. This fund and your contributions honor his legacy and will help provide life-changing experiences to others. We hope you will consider contributing.
