“Material Matters” at the Fine Arts Gallery

The Northeastern Illinois University Fine Arts Gallery will present “Material Matters,” an exhibition that expands upon the language of abstraction through an exploration of the materiality of paint.

Featuring artists Tim Bergstrom, Samantha Bittman, Daniel Bruttig, Kristin Haas, Matt Irie and Scott Wolniak, the exhibit will run Monday, Aug. 25, through Friday, Sept. 19, in the Fine Arts Gallery at Northeastern Illinois University, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago.

Three events are scheduled in conjunction with the exhibit:

Artist talk by Matt Irie: Friday, Sept. 12, 1 p.m.

Artist talk by Kristin Haas: Wednesday, Sept. 17, 6 p.m.

Closing reception: Friday, Sept. 19, 6-9 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public.

The gallery hours for the fall 2014 semester are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gallery will be closed on Labor Day. Call (773) 442-4944 for more information.
