WHAT'S NEW?
NEIU Awarded $4.3 Million Title V Grant
Northeastern Illinois University, the only four-year public Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in the Midwest, recently was awarded a Title V grant from the U.S. Department of Education in the amount of $4.3 million over five years. This grant will fund a project to improve and enhance the preparation of Hispanic and low-income students for biomedical and environmental health science careers. The grant will be used for lab renovations, including a new cadaver lab, as well as new research opportunities. Read More
$1.2 million grant from National Cancer Institute
A $1.2 million grant from the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities will support NU NEIGHBORS, a partnership between the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University and Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) to help reduce inequalities related to cancer care. Full Article
Northeastern Illinois University Announces New Leader Fund
NEIU's new Leader Fund was unveiled by the Northeastern Illinois University Foundation at its Annual Meeting. Recently, President Hahs announced the new fund in a letter to the to the campus community. The Leader Fund is an unrestricted foundation fund which will benefit students, faculty, and staff. Its name rests on the recognition that all members of the University, including our alumni, are leaders in their respective fields. Liszt Scholar Alan Walker to Deliver Presidential Lecture
As part of the NEIU Presidential Lecture Series, musicologist and Liszt scholar Alan Walker will present a talk titled "Franz Liszt: The Cultural Ambassador of the 19th Century" at 7 p.m. onThursday, February 23 in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. This free event is a part of NEIU’s Year of Liszt celebration in observance of the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer and pianist Franz Liszt. For details, see Alan Walker, musicologist.
