U.S. News and World Report Ranks Northeastern Among Most Ethnically Diverse Schools
In its annual publication of “Best Colleges,” U.S. News & World Report announced that Northeastern Illinois University is one of the most ethnically diverse universities in the nation, a distinction Northeastern has held since 1997. Read more
Frank Lloyd Wright Building Plaque Honors Lincoln
The Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies at Northeastern Illinois University is housed in a building that bears historical significance. From time to time, the integrity of a plaque honoring the memory of Abraham Lincoln is questioned. Installed in the building for its opening in 1905, the plaque includes an inscription of the word "democrat" following Abraham Lincoln's name. According to building archives, the word democrat was used because Lincoln was an advocate for democracy—the political or social equality of all people. The word was not chosen to reflect a political affiliation.Read more
Northeastern Forges Partnership with Pan-African Association
Today Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) and the Pan-African Association (PAA) held a ceremony to mark the beginning of a new partnership between the two institutions. Sharon Hahs, president of Northeastern Illinois University, and A. Patrick Augustin, executive director of the Pan-African Association, ceremoniously signed a partnership agreement at an event held at the PAA offices this morning. Read more.
Northeastern Builds Partnership with Korean American Association of Chicago
Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) and the Korean American Association of Chicago (KAAC) held a ceremony to mark the beginning of a new partnership between the two institutions. Sharon Hahs, president of Northeastern Illinois University and Tom Suh, president of KAAC, ceremoniously signed a partnership agreement at the event held this morning at the KAAC offices on the Northwest side. December 2013 Commencement
Northeastern Illinois University has announced Linda Winer, chief theater critic and arts columnist of Newsday, as the speaker for the institution’s December 2013 commencement ceremony.The commencement ceremony for Northeastern Illinois University will take place at the UIC Pavillion, 525 S. Racine Ave. in Chicago on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. Read more
