NEIU Awarded Grants Totaling More Than $6 Million
Northeastern Illinois University, the only four-year public Hispanic Serving Institution in the Midwest, recently was awarded two Title V grants from the U.S. Department of Education in the amounts of $3.5 million and $2.6 million. The first of the two grants, which totals $3,487,048 over five years, was awarded jointly to NEIU and the College of Lake County and is one of only five cooperative grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Education under Title V this year. It will help strengthen retention, transfer and graduation programs at NEIU and the CLC. The second Title V grant awarded to NEIU, which totals $2,599,683 over five years, will be used to support the Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting programs in the College of Business and Management at NEIU.
New 872 Area Code Overlay in Chicagoland
On Saturday November 7th, 2009, a new telephone area code was added to the Chicago calling vicinity. The area code 872 has been added to the Chicago geographic calling region currently used by area codes 312 and 773. The area codes for existing customers will not change. read more.
Northeastern Ranked Among Top in Diversity
Northeastern Illinois University is among the top universities in the United States in both the number of baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate degrees earned by students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, according to recent rankings in Diverse - Issues in Higher Education’s annual publication of the “Top Degree Producers 2009.”
