Scholarships
Scholarships for NEIU students are one of the most important projects supported by private contributions. Northeastern has more than 40 privately funded scholarships established by alumni, faculty and friends. To view the list, click here
With need increasing and state funds declining, private support is the only expandable source of financial assistance for NEIU students. Your contribution helps the Foundation maintain its commitment to provide financial aid to students who might otherwise not be able to attend college.
Scholarships make a tremendous difference to NEIU students. As one graduate wrote, “NEIU made it possible for me to go to school while also having a job and most importantly a son and husband to take care of. I am very proud to be a graduate of Northeastern.” read more
Donors find giving to NEIU very inspirational, too. “If we had made a gift to a larger institution, we would be another grain in the sand. At Northeastern we feel that our support makes a difference.” Founders, The Schneider Family Scholarship for Special Education There are several ways to contribute to scholarships at Northeastern:
| • |
The General Scholarship Fund The NEIU Foundation’s General Scholarship Fund is supported by private contributions from our alumni, friends, faculty and staff. The amount to be awarded annually is raised each year through the annual fund appeal. |
| • |
Named Annual Scholarships A named annual scholarship requires a contribution of $500 or more, all of which is given to the student. It can serve as a tribute to parents or other special individuals in your life. Annual renewal of your $500 gift allows the scholarship to continue. |
| • |
Endowed Scholarships A named endowed scholarship requires a gift of $20,000. The gift is invested by the NEIU Foundation and investment earnings fund the scholarship. Endowed scholarships exist in perpetuity and permanently link the name of the honored person to Northeastern. |
