About the Ombuds
Bradley R. Ginn, J.D. became the first Employee Ombuds at Northeastern Illinois University in July 2012. Since 1993, Brad successfully mediated hundreds of cases and trained thousands of individuals in the skills of mediation and conflict management. He specialized in workplace mediations including over 140 employee/employee disputes for the U.S. Postal Service as part of its EEO REDRESS Program as well as employment discrimination cases for the Illinois Department of Human Rights, EEOC, FDIC, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Social Security Administration. From 1995 to 2012, Brad also mediated employment, business, real estate, estate/probate, and construction disputes with JAMS, The Resolution Experts. He is trained in several mediation models and tailors his mediation approach to the particular dispute and parties.
From 1997 to 2004, Brad served as Executive Director of the Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR), a not-for-profit provider of mediation services and conflict management and mediation training. Brad first became involved with CCR as a volunteer mediator in 1993 and joined the staff as the Director of Training services in 1995. During his time with CCR, he mediated many disputes involving neighbors, landlord and tenants, employment discrimination, small claims, and chancery court cases. Additionally, Brad facilitated meetings with large groups dealing with conflict situations within their organizations including in elementary schools and churches. As lead trainer, he organized and led over 70 four to five day mediation skills trainings and conducted many conflict management workshops. He also trained hundreds of law students from Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago Kent College of Law, DePaul University School of Law, and Loyola University School of Law.
Brad taught Alternative Dispute Resolution as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law from 1996 through 2002. He is a former President of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Conflict Resolution (1995-1996) and served on the Board from 1994 through 1998. He joined the International Ombudsman Association in 2012 and completed its Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice course. He earned a J.D. degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1985 and graduated with Honors in English from the University of Michigan in 1982.
