Graphic Designer - Marketing
Position: Graphic Designer Marketing
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in visual design, with emphasis in visual arts communication or closely related , OR
- Bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours for progressively more advanced college or art-school course work that would lead to a major in graphic/visual arts communication and/or design, plus 24 months of graphic design work experience comparable to that of a Graphic Designer Associate level, OR
- 36 months of work experience and/or on-the-job training that provided a knowledge of progressively more advanced, generally accepted principles, theories, practices, and methods used in graphic designs and their applications to visual communications problems that are/is comparable to the training provided in the programs such as graphic/visual arts communication and/or design, plus 24 months of graphic design work experience comparable to that of a Graphic Designer Associate level, OR
- Any combination education and experience that equals 60 months.
Departmental Preferences A qualified candidate at this level must be able to perform highly complex design duties. Desired skills include computer graphic design, layout, printing, and preparation of camera-ready art. Web design is essential. Knowledge of Macintosh computers, desktop publishing, web design software, HTML and CSS (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Dreamweaver) is required. This position requires that the employee be a self-starter and practices self-discipline in a creative environment.
Requisite skills also include the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations in a positive and empowering manner, strong written, verbal, and group communication skills, and organizational and management skills including time management and problem solving. Previous experience working in an urban setting is preferred.
Salary: $33,060 - $42,000 per year
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; some weekends and evening hours required (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
Appointment: 100%
Responsibilities: The position provides graphical content for the University website including page templates, banners, web advertisements and other graphical elements according to University identity standards.
