Department: The Department of Justice Studies at Northeastern Illinois University offers a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies. Day, evening, and weekend courses are offered by the department. The Justice Studies Department has over 400 majors and 100 minors.
Responsibilities: The chairperson is the chief administrative officer for the department and is responsible for supervising all aspects of the program. Course scheduling, budgets, hiring faculty and staff, and representing the department on college and university committees are integral parts of this position. Teaching one course per term is required.
Qualifications: Minimal qualifications include: earned doctorate from an accredited institution in an area related to departmental programs and a record of teaching, research, and service that would lead to an appointment as a tenured Associate or Full Professor is required. The department also seeks a Chair who demonstrates ability to work with diverse faculty and students, a consensus builder, and a person who is willing to mentor students and faculty.
