Position: Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education (TED)
Starting Date: January 1, 2012 subject to final budgetary approval
Rank and Salary: Professor or Associate Professor; Open and commensurate with qualifications and experience
The University: Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is one of the twelve public universities in Illinois, serving the greater Chicago metropolitan area. The Department: TED is one of the seven departments in NEIU’s College of Education (COE) and offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Elementary Education with Bilingual/Bicultural Approval. Additionally, the department offers Master’s degrees in the same areas, as well as a number of programs for candidates seeking teacher certification at the graduate level without a master’s degree. The College of Education is accredited by NCATE and approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in an area related to the Department’s programs, and a record of teaching, research, and service that would lead to an appointment at the level of Associate or Full Professor. Applicants must also have administrative experience and a demonstrated record of classroom teaching at the PK-9 level. Experience working with students who are diverse (at PK-9 and/or university level), and in diverse schools or communities is expected. Knowledge of state certification processes and national accrediting procedures is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build partnerships with local schools are required. Applicants should be familiar with relevant technology (e.g. LiveText, on-line course development).
Responsibilities: The chairperson is the chief administrative officer for the department and is responsible for supervising all faculty and programs. Class scheduling, hiring staff and representing the department on college and university committees and at related university functions are integral to the position. The chairperson will teach one course per term. Chairpersons are recommended by departmental faculty and appointed by the Dean of the College of Education for three-year terms that are renewable upon continued faculty and dean recommendation.

Position: Associate Dean, Student Services and Collaboration
Starting Date: January, 2012
Rank: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Department: College of Education
Responsibilities: The Associate Dean for Student Services and Collaboration reports to the Dean of the College of Education (COE). The successful candidate will assist and support the Dean and the Administrative Team in ensuring the effective operations of the COE. Primary responsibilities include addressing all issues related to student success, coordinating the interface between the COE faculty and the Chicago Teachers Center staff, data reporting for federal, state, and local agencies, committee work, accreditation support, and community outreach. The Associate Dean works in collaboration with the Dean, the Associate Dean for Assessment and Accreditation, and the department chairs to effectively serve NEIU students, faculty, staff, and PK-12 school personnel.
Required Qualifications: Minimal qualifications include: a doctorate in an academic area related to COE programs; demonstrated administrative experience; a record of excellence in teaching, research and service that would lead to an appointment at the level of Associate or Professor; knowledge of PK-12 education; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; facility with technology (e.g. word processing, data bases, presentation and communication software); demonstrated supervisory practices, evidence of ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, and commitment to diversity.
Recommended Qualifications: knowledge of NCATE requirements and Illinois state certification requirements; demonstrated ability to build community partnerships.
The College: The College of Education (COE) is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). More that 450 certified teachers, administrators, and counselors are prepared annually in the COE’s 14 baccalaureate programs and seven graduate programs.

Faculty Position: Generalist/Clinical Mental Health Counseling Department of Counselor Education
Starting Date: August 2012
Rank: Assistant Professor (tenure track)

Located eight miles from downtown Chicago and thirty minutes from O’Hare International Airport, the University enrolls approximately 12,000 commuter students. Department: The Department of Counselor Education, in the College of Education, offers an M.A. CACREP accredited program with emphasis in school counseling, community counseling, and family counseling. The department also offers an M.A. CORE accredited program in rehabilitation counseling. Ten full-time faculty members teach primarily late afternoon and evening classes.
Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate is required in Counselor Education or a related field. A doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP approved program and experience in clinical mental health counseling, teaching at the graduate level, experience with diversity issues, and the use of technology.
Responsibilities: The position requires the ability to teach the breadth of an entire M.A. CACREP curriculum. The person hired for this position will play an important role in the transition from community counseling to the development of a new 60-semester hour program in clinical mental health counseling.

Faculty Position: K-12 Physical Education Program - Department of Health Education, Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (HPERA)

Department: The Department of Health Education, Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (HPERA) at Northeastern Illinois University offers the Bachelor of Arts in undergraduate Physical Education (K-12), Secondary Health Education (6-12), Health and Wellness, and a Master of Science in Exercise Science. The College of Education is accredited by the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Illinois State Board of Education.
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in K-12 physical education pedagogy. Coursework or specialization in exercise science or closely related field is desirable. Experience using technology to enhance teaching, assessment, and research is expected. Ability to relate to and work with a diverse populations is essential. Doctoral degree must be completed by start of contract date.
Recommended Qualifications: Experience in diverse settings, university teaching, advisement, and scholarly publication. P-12 teaching in physical education is desirable. Knowledge of NCATE/NASPE standards is highly desired. Professional certifications and community involvement will be considered by the search committee.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include teaching courses in one of the following: kinesiology, exercise physiology, anatomy or other physical education pedagogy courses. Supervision of clinical students and student teachers, and other assigned courses as required by the department. Other responsibilities include, research, and service.

Faculty Position: Human Resource Development Program Educational Leadership Department
Faculty Rank: Assistant Professor

Description of Position: Tenure track position in Human Resource Development (HRD) program at the Assistant Professor level. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in HRD, advising undergraduate and graduate students, establishing working relationships with HRD professionals, developing program/curriculum, and engaging in scholarly activities related to HRD.
Qualifications: Requirements: (1) Earned doctorate in Human Resource Development or a related field from an accredited institution, Ph.D preferred ; (2) Required background to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in instructional technology, instructional design, and needs assessment with knowledge of adult learning theory, strategic planning, and organization development (3) Experience working as a training/HRD professional.
