WELCOME TO THE TEACHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY!
We are very proud of our programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Please browse our web pages to learn about our undergraduate programs in early childhood education elementary education, elementary education with bilingual/bicultural approval, and secondary education, as well as in K-12 art, music, and foreign language education.
If you already hold a Bachelor’s degree and seek certification in the areas offered to our undergraduates, we invite you to look at the information about our Teacher Certification Program (TCP).
At the graduate level, our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs offers graduate students the opportunity to become certified in elementary education, elementary education with bilingual/bicultural approval, or secondary-level English/language arts.
Finally, we offer programs leading to the degree of Master of Science in Instruction (MSI) for certified teachers who wish to advance their practice in the area of elementary education, elementary education with bilingual/bicultural approval, or secondary English/language arts.
