Graduate Assistantships & Merit Tuition Awards
Graduate Assistantships A number of graduate assistantships are available to students who wish to expand their graduate learning experience. Graduate Assistants receive either full or partial tuition waivers, as well as stipends. Graduate assistant duty assignments can include one or more of the following: teaching undergraduate activity courses, teaching undergraduate exercise science laboratories, assisting faculty in teaching/research/other duties, and campus recreation/fitness/wellness. Duty assignments will depend upon the interests and qualifications of the graduate student, and the needs of the Department of HPERA. Most graduate assistantships will require graduate students to be on campus during traditional business hours, especially those assistantships dealing with undergraduate instruction. See Admission Requirements for information on how to apply for graduate assistantships when applying to the Graduate College. For more information on graduate assistantships, contact the Program Coordinator.
Graduate Merit Tuition Awards (GMTAs) Each semester, a number of tuition waivers, ranging from partial to full reimbursement, will be awarded to Exercise Science graduate students based on academic merit. These waivers are awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence their academic pursuits at NEIU. Applications for these GMTAs will be sent to all graduate students each semester for the following semester.
