A Message from the Chairperson
Welcome to the ELAD Department's Website
Our faculty and students are comprised of professionals with widely diverse interests, expertise and experience. We take great pride in our alumni who serve in schools, universities and businesses throughout the Chicago Metropolitan area.
Our department offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Educational Leadership. Human Resource Development, and Inner City Studies Education. We also provide graduate and undergraduate Educational Foundations courses for those preparing to be teachers and courses for those interested in obtaining a Middle School Endorsement.
We are proud of our department's ability to serve our students at a variety of locations via distance education. Courses offered through distance education include web enhanced courses and television courses. Distance Education courses are available at many locations throughout the Chicago Metropolitan area. We also have graduate courses in Educational Leadership in Lake County, and at Northeastern Illinois University's El Centro Campus located at 3119 North Pulaski Road in Chicago. Our programs in Inner City Studies Education are offered at the Jacob Carruthers' Center for Inner City Studies on East Oakwood Boulevard in Chicago.
Our programs include a strong emphasis on reflection and skill development, the ability to effectively apply theory in professional settings, and the ability to build a strong sense of community within professional settings, and the ability to understand and celebrate the diversity of the people and communities served by our faculty, graduates and students.
We have a strong focus on global issues and are very happy that our students have been able to participate in study tours and/or research meetings in England, Africa and South America. We look forward to being able to expand these opportunities for our current students and alumni.
