Womens Self Defense
| WSP 150 is a Women's Self Defense course taught every summer at Northeastern Illinois University. Building on strengths women already possess (e.g. a low center of gravity, strong hips and legs, ability to yell), participants will develop a framework for understanding violence and self-defense and will learn and practice a range of self-defense skills in simulated scenarios with a padded attacker. Highlighted skills include: awareness, prevention, assessment, verbal boundary setting and physical self defense. IMPACT self-defense is consistent with the guidelines established by the National Coalition Against Sexual Assault for a women's self defense program. This course has been offered since Summer 2004 and we have photos from the final day of all the classes. |
