Fourteen Program Objectives
FOURTEEN PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Knowledge of the:
- interface between the biological, social, and
environmental contexts in which behavior is manifested over the life span;
- provisions of major social welfare programs as
well as an understanding of the interrelationship between political,
economic, social and global factors in shaping these provisions
- institutional policies and practices that
foster or suppress human rights and social justice that impact the
development and functioning of people globally;
- scientific process of inquiry and of the
interrelationship of research and practice;
- roles and activities of social workers engaged
in global and international context using a generalist perspective.
Values that reflect:
- respect for human rights and social justice,
and the incorporation of this orientation into their perspective;
- identification with the values and ethics of
the profession, and recognition of how professional values and ethics
interface with personal values and with the changing global environment
ethos.
The Skills to:
- consume, critically assess, and produce various
scholarly social work reports;
- evaluate one’s own practice;
- engage in activities that will stimulate
promotion of human rights and social justice on individual, family, group,
community and policy level.
- engage in conversations of empowerment with
individuals, families, groups and communities which reflect an
understand/appreciation of global and international concerns;
- use communication skills that promote respect
for diverse voices,
- Collaborative conversation and decision-making;
- function within the structure of organizations
and service delivery systems
