$500
Scholarship Criteria:
The applicant must be a
full-time or part-time junior or senior and declared political
science major who has earned at least twelve credit hours in political
science at NEIU and is enrolled in six or more credit hours during the semester
the award money is distributed. The
applicant must also have a g.p.a. of 3.0 or higher in political science and an
overall g.p.a. of 3.25 or higher and be making acceptable progress towards a
degree.
Additional Requirements:
Complete an NEIU
Foundation scholarship application.
Submit two
letters of recommendation: one from a current or former faculty member and one
from a non-faculty administrator, community leader, elected official, employer
or former employer. Recommendations from
public officials, elected officials or community and non-profit group leaders
are encouraged.
Submit a two- to
three-page typed, double-spaced essay on one of the following:
A policy position
paper on a specific foreign or domestic policy issue A description and
analysis of one’s political/civic participation
