I am also a McNair Scholar and career goals include a PhD in Women's Studies, creating a publishing company focused on radical writing and publishing books.
Nicole DeFrancisco E-mail: n-defrancisco@neiu.edu Majors: Philosophy and Anthropology NEIU student since fall 2004 - I will be a senior next semester Involved in: Anthropos (secretary), and this year's ethics bowl team and other assorted things I get randomly recruited to do in what little free time I have available. Plans after graduation: I am going to grad school for archaeology-specifically mesoamerican archaeology. I want to work on Mayan archaeology so I plan on spending a lot of time in Central America. I will eventually get my doctorate and I will most likely teach. Areas of interest: I like philosophy but I do it more for fun and to keep me sharp than as a career goal. I love archaeology. I want to do as much field work as possible. I have already been to Belize twice for field schools and I am going back again twice in this next year.

Phil Mayo E-mail: philmayo3@gmail.com I'm double-majoring in Philosophy and English. I am also the current Philosophy tutor. My main interest is in the History of Philosophy, especially Kant and the late moderns, but I am currently working in 19th and 20th Century Continental Philosophy, especially Nietzsche, Heidegger, and Merleau-Ponty, and American pragmatism, where I am currently researching Dewey and Addams' conceptions of patriotism and valuation. I plan to pursue a Ph.D in Philosophy and teach and write out my days.

Interested in philosophy of religion, non-deductive logic, Plato, metaphysics, existentialism. Career Plans: No idea yet. Definitely want to teach someday, but more like when I'm 50 or so and have some good stories to tell. I will graduate December '08, after that I would like to do the Peace Corps or some kind of introductory applied anthropology type field to just explore and learn for a while. Love to work with and around people (don't want to be in a lab by myself). Grad school eventually, in archaeology or cultural anthropology. Would love to do research of any kind, haven't narrowed it down just yet.

I have been training in classical voice/opera for eight years, and I plan to go directly to a masters program in opera after graduating in the spring of 2007. I am hoping to make a career in performance. I also enjoy writing and poetry. I am giving a joint recital with guitarist David Johnson Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at 7:30 pm in the NEIU recital hall. Works by Faure, Schubert, Mertz, Verdi, and more. Reception to follow.
