The Dance Program at Northeastern Illinois University offers an individually designed Minor in Dance. The program offers technique classes in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Spanish Techniques. The student performance group, Repertory Dance Ensemble, performs faculty, student and guest artist choreography each semester.The Dance Program sponsors the Ruth Page Dance Series (RPDS), which brings professional artists to the NEIU community through dance concerts, master classes, and its Preparatory Dance Program. The Preparatory Program offers dance classes and performing opportunities to children and adults.The Ensemble EspaƱol Spanish Dance Theater is the dance company in-residence at NEIU. The Ensemble performs regularly in the Chicago area, offers workshops for students, and hosts the annual American Spanish Dance Festival, which brings internationally recognized Spanish dance artists to NEIU each summer.Through course work and internships, NEIU dance students have the opportunity to work with the RPDS and the Ensemble, providing them with valuable skills and work experience in the arts. Faculty members include Dr. Venetia Stifler, Artistic Director of the Ruth Page Dance Series, Dame Libby Komaiko, Artistic Director of Ensemble Espanol and Rachel Burton, Coordinator of the Preparatory Program, and other guest faculty.
