Undergraduate Scholarships
Northeastern Illinois University currently offers the following scholarships to Undergraduate students:
- Brommel-Barnett-Kenas-Mcguckin-Nicosia-Speake Scholarship. Awarded each April (for the following acadmic year) to one outstanding student majoring in music who plans to pursue a career in teaching.
- Brommel-Ratner Scholarship. Awarded each April (for the following acadmic year) to one outstanding student who is a declared music major or graduate music student and demonstrates great promise in vocal performance or vocal education.
- Music Talent Scholarships for New Students. Applicants must be accepted as an undergraduate student at NEIU (not required at time of audition). To be eligible for a Music Talent Scholarship, students must be a U.S. citizen or a documented non-citizen. Students do not have to be music majors to receive a scholarship. Students designated as "student-at-large" and/or students with a bachelors degree (or who will receive one before the end of the Fall semester) are not eligible for a Music Talent Scholarship. Students will be assigned an audition time and will be notified in advance.
- Music Talent Scholarships for Returning Students. Students do not have to be music majors to receive a scholarship. Students who have a bachelor's degree or who will receive one before enrolling for the Fall semester are not eligible to apply for the award. Students will be assigned an audition time and will be notified in advance.
- Northeastern Illinois Scholarship for Pianists - Harold Berlinger, Joan Sachs Scholarships. The Northeastern Illinois Scholarship for Pianists (NISP) is a scholarship which will be an amount not to exceed $600. It will be awarded to a declared undergraduate or graduate piano major. The scholarship will not be given if the committee feel that none of the applicants qualify for the award. The Harold Berlinger Scholarship and the Joan Sachs Scholarship are awarded annually to outstanding students in music.
