Undergraduate Dance Minor
The Dance Program at Northeastern Illinois University offers an individually
designed Minor in Dance. The program offers technique classes in Ballet, Modern,
Jazz and Spanish Techniques. The student performance group, Repertory Dance
Ensemble, performs faculty, student and guest artist choreography each semester.
The Dance Program sponsors the Ruth Page Dance Series (RPDS), which brings
professional artists to the NEIU community through dance concerts, master
classes, and its Community Dance Program. The Community Dance Program offers dance
classes and performing opportunities to children and adults.
The Ensemble EspaƱol Spanish Dance Theater is the dance company in-residence
at NEIU. The Ensemble performs regularly in the Chicago area, offers workshops
for students, and hosts the annual American Spanish Dance Festival, which brings
internationally recognized Spanish dance artists to NEIU each summer.
Through course work and internships, NEIU dance students have the opportunity
to work with the RPDS and the Ensemble, providing them with valuable skills and
work experience in the arts. Faculty members include Dr. Venetia Stifler,
Artistic Director of the Ruth Page Dance Series, Dame Libby Komaiko, Artistic
Director of Ensemble Espanol and Rachel Burton, Coordinator of the Preparatory
Program, and other guest faculty. Send E-Mail to: Venetia Stifler at
