BiographyR. Shayne Cofer is Professor and Chair of the Department of Music at Northeastern Illinois University. In addition to his responsibilities as department chair, Dr. Cofer coordinates the NEIU band program and conducts the university Wind Ensemble.
His research interests include conducting and instrumental music education. His work has been published in The Southeastern Journal of Music Education; The Journal of Research in Music Education; MENC's publication Teaching Music; Band and Orchestra Magazine; Triad: The Ohio Music Educator's Journal; and in the Illinois Music Educator's Journal.
Dr. Cofer is also an active adjudicator and clinician.
