NEIU to Examine Environmental Balance and Global
Interconnectedness at Annual Peace Conference
WHAT: “The Ripple Effect: Water and Fire Conference” will take place at NEIU from Monday, October 6 through Tuesday, October 7. The second in a series of annual peace conferences, this year’s is dedicated to the concept of environmental balance and the global interconnectedness of all cultures and communities.

WHERE: Northeastern Illinois University Alumni Hall, Student Union Building 5500 N. St. Louis Ave. in Chicago (Use campus entrance located at 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.)
WHEN: Monday, October 6 at 6 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 7 at 9:25 a.m. - 9 p.m.
DETAILS: Presenters will discuss how the natural elements of earth, air, water, and fire have been impacted by pollution, invasive species, political indifference, corporate expansion, and other factors. Workshops also will provide opportunities for action.
The conference also will showcase exhibitions by local students involved in Roots & Shoots, an international organization for youth who are interested in making a positive difference in their communities, for animals, and for the environment.
