Civic Ballet Performs at NEIU

Civic Ballet of Chicago celebrates its 12th Anniversary at NEIU presenting two World Premieres and one Civic Premiere
WHAT: The Civic Ballet of Chicago will present “Black Tights and Spanish Rhythms,” celebrating its 12th Anniversary (1996-2008) at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). Tickets are $20; $15 seniors and students.
The program will include:
“Les Femmes en Collants Noir” - Ladies in Black Tights, a work by Chicago’s own Harrison McEldowney, acclaimed choreographer who has set works for companies such as River North Chicago Dance Company and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago
“Suite Español” – a work by Irma Suarez Ruiz, associate artistic director and lead dancer of the Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater, in-residence at NEIU
“Rococo Variations” – a company premiere by the Longs
“Don Quixote Pas de Deux” – an old favorite danced by guest artists Brett Mills and Peter Kozak
WHEN: Saturday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m.

DETAILS: This young, vibrant ballet company makes its premiere at NEIU with a program highlighted by several new works of both classical and contemporary ballet. As the official youth company of the Ruth Page Foundation School of Dance, the Civic Ballet of Chicago is recognized as one of the leading dance training centers in the nation.
