Meditation Teacher Presents Free Program at NEIU
WHAT: Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) will present “Zen Meditation and Art: An Oasis Within a World of Stress.” This program will feature the Venerable Chi Chern, president of the Malaysian Buddhist Institute and a Master Zen Meditation Teacher. This event is free and open to the public.
The program will feature: Zen Meditation Workshop Wednesday, September 3, 9 – 10:50 a.m. Student Union Building, Golden Eagles Room
“Zen Meditation and Art: An Oasis Within a World of Stress” a lecture by Venerable Chi Chern Wednesday, September 3, 6 – 8 p.m. Student Union Building, Golden Eagles Room
Peace Fire Wednesday, September 3, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Physical Education Complex
“Within,” an art exhibit reception Wednesday, September 3, 4 – 5:45 p.m. Main Lobby, Ronald Williams Library
“Tea and Zen Same Taste,” tea ceremony and calligraphy demonstration Thursday, September 4, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Village Square
WHERE: Northeastern Illinois University 5500 N. St. Louis Ave. in Chicago (Use campus entrance located at 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.)
DETAILS: Chern has been leading meditation retreats for over 20 years and has lectured in Malaysia, Singapore, China and Australia and throughout the United States. The program at NEIU is sponsored by the office of academic development, the Chinese Student Club and the University Honors Society.
