NEIU Opera Workshop Presents “The Medium,” a Rarely
Performed One-Hour Opera in English
WHAT: Northeastern Illinois University’s (NEIU) Department of Music, as part of its Opera Workshop, will present “The Medium,” a tragic opera about a fraudulent medium who accidentally encounters the supernatural and becomes a victim of her own deception.
Rose Guccione, student, music, will sing the soprano role of Madame Flora. Guccione has performed in four Lyric Opera Productions in addition to her recent program of Strauss and Schubert at the Ravinia Festival.
‘“The Medium” is a perfect opportunity for those who have never been to an opera,” said Sasha Gerritson, instructor, music, who will direct the performance. “The show lasts just over an hour, and it will be performed in English.”
General admission tickets are $10.
