National Report Shows High Number of Ethnically Diverse Students Earn Bachelor’s Degrees from NEIU
CHICAGO – Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is among the top universities in the United States in the number of baccalaureate degrees earned by students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, according to Diverse - Issues in Higher Education’s annual publication of the “Top Degree Producers 2008.”
Northeastern Illinois University’s national rankings, provided by 2006-2007 preliminary U.S. Department of Education data, are as follows:
- Number of baccalaureate degrees earned in Education by Hispanics: 15th
- Number of baccalaureate degrees earned in Education by Asian Americans: 15th
- Number of baccalaureate degrees earned in Education by all minorities: 27th
- Number of baccalaureate degrees earned in Ethnic, Cultural and Gender Studies by African Americans: 28th
- Number of baccalaureate degrees earned in Mathematics and Statistics by Hispanics: 35th
- Number of baccalaureate degrees earned in English Language and Literature/Letters by African Americans: 43rd
Number of baccalaureate degrees earned in all disciplines by Hispanics: 78th
There are 4,314 degree-granting institutions in the United States according to the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics.
