-Building Dedication- Fine Arts Center at NEIU to be Renamed in Honor of President Emerita Salme Harju Steinberg
WHAT: The Fine Arts Center at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) will be renamed the Salme Harju Steinberg Fine Arts Center. A Building Dedication will be held in honor of President Emerita Salme Harju Steinberg. Dr. Steinberg served as president from September 1995 through January 2007.
The program will feature:
Welcome and Tribute to Dr. Steinberg Presentation of Building Plaque Remarks from Dr. Steinberg Performances by David Portillo, tenor, Celeste Rue, piano; Brian Torosian, guitar; and Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater Juried Student Art Exhibition Tours of the Fine Arts Center
This event is free and open to the public.
WHEN: Thursday, April 17 at 4 p.m., Reception to follow, 5 – 7 p.m.
WHERE: Northeastern Illinois University Auditorium, 5500 N. Saint Louis Ave. in Chicago (Use campus entrance located at 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.)
DETAILS: Dr. Steinberg’s tenure as President is marked by her dedication to the arts through support of academic fine arts programming and the creation of the Performing Arts Series, the Jewel Box Series, the Presidential lecture Series, and Mostly Music at NEIU.
