Northeastern Illinois University to build a new, permanent home for its El Centro Campus
WHAT: Northeastern Illinois University plans to construct a new NEIU El Centro Campus and invites the media to attend a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new campus and learn more about the project. After more than 40 years of serving students and the community in leased space, the Northeastern Illinois University El Centro Campus will have a new, permanent home on the Northwest Side of Chicago.

DETAILS: Located in Chicago?s Avondale neighborhood, this new campus facility will allow Northeastern Illinois University to significantly expand its academic and community programming. The location consists of more than three acres of land bordered by Henderson Street and Drake and Avondale avenues. This site will house a 55,000-square foot, three-story facility that will be highly visible to the 460,000 vehicles that travel daily along the Kennedy Expressway.
